On this symbolic day for every Ukrainian — Independence Day — we invite you on a journey through the golden decades of Ukrainian music from the 1960s to the 1980s.
Let’s sing along with MOVA to “Kyieve Miy”, dance to “Don’t Trample the Lilies of the Valley”, get emotional with “Ukrayino”, and dream to “Night Over the Carpathians”. These songs are part of our memory, our culture, and our freedom.
Albert Tsukrenko, a music journalist and researcher of Ukrainian pop music, will provide historical context and insights into the songs that will be performed live by MOVA.
Spend this special day in an atmosphere of tender nostalgia, deep music, and warm live emotion.
MOVA explores and performs songs from the golden repertoire of Ukrainian pop music from the 1960s–80s. The band recreates some songs as close as possible to the originals (“Kazka”, “Mozhe Ya Tebe Vyhadav”), and reimagines others with bold new arrangements — for example, “Chervona Ruta” in acid jazz style with a 5/8 rhythm, or “Kyieve Miy” in rhythm & blues.
The name MOVA is an acronym formed from the initials of the band’s founding members.
