Godwin Louis (USA)

20.10
Saturday

The winner of the Alvin Jones Prize, surprisingly thin and versatile alto saxophonist Godwin Louis will perform for the first time for the Kiev public in one of the oldest clubs in the Caribbean Club.

His manner of play is distinguished by expressiveness, a range of shades and the widest choice of techniques.

Godwin Louis was born in the homeland of jazz, in Harlem, and as a true “child of the city of jazz” began playing the saxophone at the age of nine. Graduated from high school in 2003 with honors, Godwin was awarded the Grace Norton Dudley Scholarship, a personal scholarship that paid for his studies at any college in the country.

Godwin graduated from the prestigious Institute of Jazz Telonius Monk and the famous Berkeley College of Music in Boston, where he was awarded the Alvin Jones Prize. This award gave the young saxophonist the opportunity to perform on the same stage with such eminent musicians as Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, John Scofield, Barry Harris, Danilo Perec, Joe Lovano and Terence Blanchard.

Fan-zone – free space intended for enjoying the event without a specific predestinated seat.

Check out the rules of the «Caribbean Club». We remind you that during an air raid it is recommended to take shelter: the nearest is the "Universitet" metro station (400 m).
