Dimitris Angelakis Quartet (Greece)

6.10
Thursday

On the 6-th of October Caribbean Club Concert-Hall invites everyone to the Dimitris Angelakis quartet concert, leaded by the Greek vibraphone master Dimitris Angelakis. An instrument handled by him blesses the listeners with an especially melodic, tender and overflowing sound.

The vibraphone was constructed in America during 1921, but it became popular only thanks to Layonel Hampton. In the 30-ties of the XX century Louis Armstrong came to Hampton and asked a question about his vibraphone that was gathering dust in the corner. The legendary jazz man asked if Layonel could play it and at the time he couldn’t, but had a huge desire to learn. Just in a few hours he was playing the instrument behind Armstrong.

The jazz vibraphonist Dimitris Angelakis brings joy to his listeners with his music for over 10 years now. In this time he managed to record a few music albums and to share the stage with Mulate Astake and Qui Quie Alvarado (Paquito D’Rivera) countless times. He was warmly welcomed on the stages of USA, Spain, Netherlands, England, Germany, Greece and many other countries. Since 2010 Dimitris is a constant performer in Greece, Spain and Netherlands, which he visits with his master classes.

Angelakis already cooperated with outstanding musicians like Giannis Pavlidis (Dave Liebman), Paris Strother (Prince) and Byron Landham (Joey DeFranscesco), and on the 6-th of October he will be sharing the stage with the best Ukrainian jazz men. There is a wonderful program full of original songs and famous jazz compositions waiting for the audience.

The Dimitris Angelakis quartet consists of:

Dimitris Angelakis – vibraphone

Bogdan Humenyuk tenor saxophone, flute

Alexander Emets – bass

Pavel Halitskiy – drums

You will get the chance to listen to the amazing beauty, improvisation and melodic potential of the vibraphone on the 6-th of October only in the Caribbean Club Concert-Hall.

Fan-zone – free space intended for enjoying the event without a specific predestinated seat.
