August 10 – Cherkasy Jazz Quintet with a new program “Cherkasy plays Chicago” will perform at the Caribbean Club Concert Hall.
Cherkasy Jazz Quintet and friends will play the works of the legendary Chicago band in jazz arrangements.
Cherkasy Jazz Quintet considers Chícago to be one of the most influential musical projects of all time, as almost all vocal instrumental ensembles of the 70s had an obligatory brass section like Chicago. But the Chicago brass section is still considered by experts to be the best in the world.
The Cherkasy Jazz Quintet collective has recorded and released 11 records over 18 years of its existence.
“Cherkasy plays Chicago” is a new program of the quintet, to which three more famous Cherkasy musicians have been invited: Oleg Chernyshev (trombone), Mike Yevtushenko (tenor and soprano saxophone) and Konstantin Dobrotsky (electric guitar). The program will be released on vinyl at the end of 2021.
“Cherkasy plays Chicago” is a jazz instrumental version of the famous and popular hits of the Chicago group: You Are On My Mind (James Pankow) – from Chicago X (1976), Brand New Love Affair (James Pankow) – from Chicago VIII (1975), Saturday In The Park (Robert Lamm) – from Chicago V (1972), The Approaching Storm (James Pankow) – from Chicago III (1971) and others.
