19 September, Seamus Blake, will play for the first time in the capital of Ukraine with the giants of Ukrainian jazz like Dennis Adu Big Band. Latvian singer Diane Payton will play with them as well.
Blake was born in London, grew up in Vancouver and lived in New York. There, after he graduated Berkley, in 1992 Seamus started to play with leading American jazz musicians: Victor Lewis (drums), Franco Ambrosetti (trumpet), Billy Drummond (drums), Darrell Grant (piano) and Kevin Hayes (drums). In addition, Blake participated in the tour of John Scofield, worked with outstanding Orchestra, Mingus Big Band, and in 2002 became the winner of the Thelonious Monk’s jazz contest in Washington.
Seamus has released 16 solo albums and played on more than 70 discs. Six of them were nominated for Grammy.
