It’s hard to believe, but even the creators of multi-platinum hits are not sure if the songs they wrote are suitable for them. X Ambassadors is just such a band.
Authors of “Renegades” and “Unsteady” have been working on “Orion” album for four years. The band played new songs on the Atlas stage in 2018, and frontman Sam Harris said: “Very, very soon our new record will be released, be patient a little.”
More than a year has passed and during this time X Ambassadors recorded two albums and none of them were released.
“We already had an album completely ready called ‘Joyful’. We have written if in soul and rhythm and blues styles. It seemed to us that everything works out well and we should go further in this direction. But after listening to it completely, it came to understand that ‘This music doesn’t represent us to the listener. The second version of the album is songs that we composed during the last tour, but we declined them as well,” says Harris.
Producer Ricky Reid saved X Ambassadors. Their acquaintance resulted in several tracks, which became the basis of ‘Orion’. “It’s nice to work with this guy, but the most important thing is that he helped us to focus on the things we want,” the frontman admits.
But ‘Orion’ album is not the only thing the band has been doing for all this time. X Ambassadors wrote and produced three tracks for the now-popular pop singer Lizzo, and also participated in a compilation of songs inspired by The Game of Thrones with The Weeknd, A $ AP Rocky, SZA, The National, Rosalia and many others.
